The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl was created in 1967 by the Georgia Lions Club and hosted its first NCAA-sanctioned game in 1968 at Georgia Tech’s Grant Field in Atlanta. After the first three games, the event moved to Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 197. In 1991, the Bowl signed a television contract with ESPN, showcasing the game to a larger national audience, and in 1992, the ACC and SEC signed on to create the first permanent bowl match-up between the rival conferences. The opening of Atlanta’s Georgia Dome enabled the game to move indoors for the 1992 Peach Bowl, increasing capacity and boosting team payouts. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl made history by being selected to join the Cotton, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar, and Orange Bowl as the hosts for the new College Football Playoff that began in '14 and will host a College Football Playoff Semifinal this year in the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Beginning in 2017-2018 the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has been played at the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium will have room to hold 75,000 fans, more than previous Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl venues. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium is located within walking distance of the College Football Hall of Fame as well as other Atlanta attractions like the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. Mercedes-Benz Stadium was also the site Super Bowl LIII in 2019.
